Hello! I’m Chess Scott, a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-Associate) in Texas, supervised by Todd Puckett, LPC-S.
I work with individuals seeking self-awareness and personal growth, and I believe in the power of a collaborative therapeutic relationship. My approach is person-centered, focusing on creating a supportive space where you feel heard and understood. I openly acknowledge my personal experiences with mental health challenges, including firsthand experience with PTSD and major depression, as well as significant secondhand exposure to substance use disorder and ADHD within my family. At The Shift, we strive to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, and I am dedicated to meeting clients where they are, providing support, and working together to navigate their path toward wellness.
My style is rooted in a collaborative therapeutic relationship (Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Title 22, Part 30, §681.31), and I draw from my own experiences to create a safe and empathetic environment.
Before becoming a counselor, I proudly served in the Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge. I also spent time as a real estate broker, experiences that have enriched my understanding of the diverse challenges people face. As a father, I bring a unique perspective to my work, appreciating the complexities of family dynamics and the importance of mental well-being.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Cum Laude) from the University of Houston and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Summa Cum Laude) from the same institution. My master’s program included over 260 direct clinical hours and over 600 total hours of experience.
Whether you’re looking to address specific mental health concerns or simply seeking personal growth, I’m here to support you on your journey.
