About The Shift

Mission Statement

Our mission is to make therapy approachable, personal, and transformative. At The Shift, we walk with individuals, couples, families, and children as they move from struggle to strength.

Our Story

The Shift began with a journey. A journey from struggle to healing, from silence to connection, from feeling stuck to finding hope — guided by a commitment to thoughtful, continuous improvement in the care we deliver.

Born out of lived experience, The Shift was created on the belief that change is always possible. What begins as pain, depression, or disconnection can be transformed into growth, joy, and strength. Sometimes transformation looks bold, sometimes subtle. It’s not always pretty or linear, but real growth is possible. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.

Our founder’s path reflects this truth—moving through depression, finding healing through therapy and meaningful support, and then turning that transformation into a mission. With renewed purpose, education, and heart, The Shift was built as a safe place where others can find their way forward.

Today, The Shift is more than a counseling practice. It’s a space of compassion and trust, where care meets expertise. It’s a team united by the same passion: to walk alongside people in their hardest moments and to celebrate their transformation into new seasons of life.

At its core, The Shift is not just about therapy sessions—it’s about possibility. About helping people believe in themselves again, in their families, and in the life they can create—their best life, in their own way.

Why The Shift?

At The Shift, quality of care is at the heart of everything we do. Our counselors participate in regular supervision, ongoing training, and continual case review to ensure that the care you receive is grounded, ethical, and consistently improving. We believe that clients deserve a team that is always learning, refining, and showing up with excellence — so you can feel confident that you’re in capable, caring hands.

These are the things we hope you find to be true about us:

A team that values compassion, authenticity, and transformation.

Approaches that are research-informed and tailored to your story.

A safe space to explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.

We believe therapy should feel natural, approachable, and effective — like sitting down with someone who truly understands and is trained to help you move forward.

Meet Our Team

Every counselor is committed to providing grounded, ethical, and high-quality care.

Our team participates in regular supervision, case consultation, and ongoing professional development — not because it’s required, but because we believe clients deserve counselors who are always growing, refining their skills, and showing up with intention.

Our counselors aren’t just highly trained—they’re approachable, grounded, and easy to talk to.

She is especially passionate about supporting families navigating the complexities of raising a child with neurodevelopmental differences. Bri also brings specialized training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2) to her work with couples, blending research-based practices with a warm, collaborative style.

Chess Scott, MEd, LPC-Associate

Supervised by Todd Puckett, LPC-S

Chess is a counselor who understands struggle from the inside out. Having navigated PTSD, depression, and family experiences with ADHD and substance use, he brings both empathy and lived experience to his practice.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an entrepreneur, Chess has faced the challenges of discipline, transition, and resilience firsthand. He saw a need for mental health care that was both practical and approachable — and he felt uniquely suited to build it.

At The Shift, Chess works with individuals seeking self-awareness, healing, and personal growth. His approach is person-centered and collaborative, helping clients feel understood, supported, and empowered.

Our counselors aren’t just highly trained—they’re approachable, grounded, and easy to talk to.

Jessica Haffner, MA, LPC-Associate

Supervised by Kelly Rice, MA, LPC-S

She also integrates attachment theory in her work with couples and families, helping clients rebuild healthy bonds. Jessica offers Christian counseling for those who wish to incorporate faith into therapy. Her style is warm, approachable, and encouraging.
